Work Based Placement

WORK-BASED PLACEMENT:

This unit will look at the following area:

PREPARATION FOR A WORK-BASED PLACEMENT to include:
  • Explaining the content and intended outcome of the experience
  • Access to a full range of relevant info rmation from which to base decisions
  • Action Planning for the work-based placement
  • Briefing prior to the work-based placement
  • Introduction to Health & Safety for the work-based placement
PARTICIPATION IN A WORK-BASED PLACEMENT to include learning situations to enable learners to:
  • Identify the skills/knowledge developed and/or required in their chosen vocational/occupational area
  • Develop their knowledge and understanding of relations, behaviour and practices in the modern work place e.g.:

•  Relationship at work

•  Roles, rights and responsibilities in the work place

•  The need for discipline in the work place

•  Equal Opportunities

•  Hierarchies and Management methods

•  Unions

•  Risk Assessment and Risk Management

  • Apply their knowledge of Health & Safety to the work-based placement.

 

EVALUATION AND REVIEW OF THE WORK-PLACED PLACEMENT:
  • Review and evaluation of personal developments and skills gained from the link experience.

The unit will provide opportunities for the learners to develop and apply elements of Key Skills. This will include gathering evidence for the Wider Key Skills thereby contributing to the Progress File process. The opportunities are indicated in the unit amplification.
