Welcome to VESA

VESA provides a range of services for schools and colleges in Leicester+shire to support and develop education & training for 13 - 19 year olds:

• Curriculum and Staff development (for the 13 - 19 phase)
• Enhanced curriculum experiences and opportunities for students
• Managing and Supporting Collaborative Partnerships and Projects

From September 1st 2005, VESA will subsume within its "portfolio" of services all of the services previously provided by Leicester City Cluster

During 2007/08, VESA's services will focus on:

• Providing student enhancement experiences (including work experience, student conferences, linked provision with FE Colleges and other providers)
• Responding to challenges emerging from the 14-19 White Paper proposals
• Continuing to support implementation & development of GCSEs in vocational subjects
• Implementing the new Applied A-levels & preparing for successors to GNVQs
• Co-ordinating & supporting the integrated Aimhigher initiative
• Supporting the national "roll out" of Progress File
• Developing & supporting delivery of Work-related Learning entitlement for all at KS4 (to satisfy the statutory requirement introduced in September 2004)
• Supporting changes to Citizenship, PSHE, Enterprise & Careers Education and Guidance (towards the creation of a coherent Personal Development Curriculum )
• Developing programmes and support for disengaged and under-achieving students
• Continuing support & development of Key Skills / Basic Skills as part of the emerging 14-19 curriculum
